WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2018
World environment day campaign was established in 1972 by United Nations General Assembly. It is celebrated in all over the every year on 5th June. The United Nations creates awareness that the environment has major threat from human. So, we need to unite for the protection and improvement of environment otherwise it will not only affect the ecosystem but also the well-being of people and economic development throughout the world. It is a wakeup call from nature that is why 5th June is designated as WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY.
The celebration focuses on carbon neutrality, forest management, managing greenhouse effect, promoting bio-fuels production, use of hydropower to produce electricity, encourages people to use solar water heaters, use of solar energy, promoting afforestation, coral reefs and mangroves restoration and other effectives of environmental preservations.
Human beings are both creator and destroyer of their environment which provides them everything from the shelter to food and the fresh we breathe in. Due to the rapid acceleration of science and technology humans have acquired the power to modify the environment on their conditions. Due to the industrialization, urbanization, overexploitation, deforestation, pollution etc. the environment is getting polluted day by day. If we are going to destroy our environment at this rate then we should be prepared for their consequences. Our air is polluted, our water is polluted, water level has reduced, ozone is depleted, our animals are at verge of extinction, trees are getting with high speed etc.we are not understanding that we are digging our own grave by playing with the nature.
According to the scientists in the near future more than 2/3rd flora and fauna will extinct because of human induced environmental changes. Our future generations will have no access to food like honey, coffee; seafood because of the huge environmental and climatic imbalances. This has to stop now. Our environment is the heritage of our future generations and it is our prime responsibility to protect it and give them in the same way it was before. If we really wanted to have a better future for our generations then we have to save our nature now.
The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by the individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing environment.
Environmental imbalances are the result of our greed and irresponsibility towards the nature. Now, we will have to unite on the same platform and pledge to take care of our environment. We should have to bring some positive changes within ourselves. We should start with minimal effective steps, like switch to organic food from inorganic food, use of natural fertilizers, reduce use of electricity (switch off when not in use) ,recycle water and close the tap when not in use, water harvestation, stop deforestation , save wild animals , stop plastic pollution.
This time in 2018, INDIA is going to host the World Environment Day with “BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION” as theme for this year’s edition. We need to gather globally to combat single use of plastic pollution. “Beat Plastic Pollution” urges government, industries, communities and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives & urgently reduces the production and excessive use of single-use plastic. Plastic pollutes our oceans, damaging our marine life and is threatening human health. Plastic is non biodegradable it takes years to degrade leads to soil pollution. We have to make our planet a clean and green place.
India will now help galvanize greater action on plastic pollution. It is a global urgency affecting every aspect of our lives. Plastic pollution is everywhere in the water we drink, the food we eat, the plastic we use to carry our things when thrown out in garbage becomes food to cattle and kills them. This year we should take an oath to beat plastic pollution.
World Environment Day is the day for every person around the world. It is the responsibility of everybody. We have to take ownership of our environment and be actively involved in protecting our Earth..
Stop use of plastic IF YOU CAN’T REUSE IT THEN REFUSE IT..
